Two Year Old Jealousy

How do I get my two year old to stop biting my three month old.

Two year olds have their jealous moments don't they?

Keep a close eye on your two year old and when he gets close to the baby, remind him that he needs to be gentle. Say: "be gentle", no biting. Say everything two times and distract your two year old with another activity away from the baby. Do not allow close contact if he bites even once a day. Just remove him and don't punish him or threaten or bribe him. Just remind him when he shows he knows how to pat the baby, kiss the baby, hold the baby in your lap, and try again.

Try playing with a doll and showing him what behaviors you will tolerate. Say to the child over and over. "I love the doll, no biting".

Every two weeks or so try again to encourage loving touches if he doesn't comply, remove him and say, "no biting", say it always very firmly, but do not spank, yell or hit him for the act of biting. Don't bite him back. You will only teach him that biting is o.k.
