Preteen - The Talk...
Our oldest daughter will be turning 9 in October. She has started developing acne. I think it may be time to start having "the talk"...I'm afraid. Any advice on what to say?
I don't know your child's temperament or your family's history with "frank talks." If you are used to having intimate conversations with her, of course, talk about care of skin, shaving, hair care, and take her on a "spa day" -- just the two of you. When she wants to know more about puberty and masturbation, she will ask. Just remember any information she gets from her classmates will be wrong, so tell her the truth when she asks - don't hesitate to have conversations about personal hygiene right away.
