Teach cooperation by being cooperative and considerate yourself.
Teach sharing as a social skill by modeling it.
Communicate in positive terms only.
Model or demonstrate the exact behavior you want the child to do. Practice with the child.
Figure out what happens just before behavior you want to change.
Figure out what happens just after behavior you want to change.
make a plan to change bad behavior.
Talk to the child; explain the plan.
Use active listening and take turns listening.
Help the child to rehearse behaviors that you like.
Deliver positive praise continuously.
"Catch" child (children) doing the right thing - praise!
"Attend" to child (children) doing the right thing.
Get help handling children out of control.
Figure out what rewards are meaningful and valuable and use them.
Write a list of reinforcers that the child likes.
Think about the situation you wan to change and don't draw attention only to the child --depersonalize
Don't threaten, nag, criticize.
Don't yell, hit, or use force (When you do, you are teaching your child to do the same).
Use punishment sparingly--it only temporarily stops bad behavior --it does not cause it to stop.
