Visual Loss
The low prevalence and wide functional and developmental heterogeneity of infants with visual impairment make it virtually impossible to state, with any certainty, the exact effect visual impairment has on infant and toddler development. Several studies have made generalizations about the entire population of visually impaired young children, but caution must be used when accepting conclusions drawn either from case studies or studies with larger samples that possess serious methodological weaknesses in their designs.
