9/10/07 - DR. SUSAN TURBEN TALKS TO RUSSIAN TEACHERS (WHO HAPPEN TO BE SISTERS) ABOUT LEARNING, TEACHING AND CHILD-REARING! [Listen to Audio]

Today Susan welcomes to Friend of the Family, Inessa Goldberg and Bella Brandelis, Russian-born teachers who grew up in Russia in the 60’s. Bella is on the faculty of the School of Fine Arts, Willoughby, Ohio and Inessa is a preschool teacher at the Jewish Community Center Preschool in Cleveland, Ohio. Listeners may join Susan to discuss similarities and differences growing up in Russia and the U.S. Are Russian children rigorously educated? Why do some children still live in asylums? Call in with your questions about Russian or American parenting from the perspective of Inessa and Bella’s educational experiences. Do American and Russian parents hold children’s academic achievement higher or lower now than in earlier times? Are there teaching methods or family traditions that listeners would like to know about? Susan Turben wants to know what YOU think!
